I have been running everday and I bought a jump rope yesterday. I have also been doing exercises I got out of a magazine to get a flat stomach. What else can I do?

This has been a great lie from magazines, pills, diet supps, etc. You cannot target certain body parts to lose fat. This has been a lie for YEARS and always will be a lie to sell you products/workouts/magazines.

Your body decides where to store the fat and where to remove it when it needs it; the only thing you can do is keep eating HEALTHY and exercising.

Sure, you can target muscle groups but if the muscle is under fat, it won't help you until the fat is gone.

I used to be 267lbs and VERY fat, I am currently 190lbs and built. Fat comes off every part of your body when it has no choice but to use it but here are some steps I have noticed girls do wrong:

1. They stop eating – This is VERY bad, this will actually make you lose weight SLOWER. Your metabolism will slow down and go into "starvation mode." It will start to store ANY calories you take in as fat for energy later. Very bad. You should eat 5-6 SMALL meals a day (about every 2-3 hours), that alone will make you lose weight fast.

2. Build MUSCLE – This is a problem with women because they are afraid of growing "too big" of muscles. Just to give you an idea, you can work out one muscle group and that muscle group can take up to 50 calories a day just to sustain itself! Basically every day you are sitting around (before working out) your muscle(s) are using up to 50 calories per major muscle group, per day!

Think about that, 50 and that's just to upkeep muscle! That's a no brainer and a freebie! Build muscle and keep it tone! Be patient and the fat will come off your stomach and other places.

I recently lost weight in an attempt to get a flat stomach but I've reached the point where it would be dangerous to go anything more than a pound lower (so I wanna keep that extra pound just as insurance in case I lose weight accidently one day), but my stomach is still pretty flabby for my size. I'm only 16, so it isn't post-menopausal flab. I'm a girl, btw.

Crunches crunches crunches, oh yea and then more crunches…. Im a mother of four, and have a flat stomach….they work wonder's, whether or not you have kids or not.

What are some good foods to help get a flat stomach. Of course with exercise.

Foods to help keep my stomach flat.

If you're looking to lose weight in general, more fruits and veggies than anything. Breads should be whole grains and high in fiber. Avoid foods with added sugar. And definitely keep hydrated. Cardio work outs are the best way to go as far as burning fat, but don't forget some strength training to keep your muscles strong. Muscle helps keep the metabolism up and burn more calories, so feed your muscles as well with lean protein like white meat chicken and turkey or fish.

If you just wanna get rid of some bloat, avoid starchy carbs for a few days, and providing you are not lactose intolerant, eat/drinky plenty of dairy like fat free milk, yogurt, and eggs. (i like to hardboil some eggs and only eat the eggwhite, the yolk has too much fat in it for me, but it does have a lot of health benfits)

I am sixteen, and used to have quite a small bust but it recently has grown to a good C/D cup. I really want to have a flat, toned stomach but I dont know how to achieve this without losing my breats?

jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weight
evenly throughout your whole body. If you want to lose weight in
specific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they are
your problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will have
to work double on them. The best approach is this:
1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normal
weight, lower for overweight).
2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage.
3. Target your problem areas with exercises.
an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a
stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture,
for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure
that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you
will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your
body back, until it's parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and
move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add
to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week,
guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat – if you have any – six
pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these
crunches – I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT
ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

how can i get a flat stomach while still eating whatever i want? is that possible? my stomach is grrrr. also im a swimmer and i feel all big and muscley. im 5'1 almost 5'2 and i weigh 98 pounds. (im 13) and im very active but i still feel fat!
what do I do?

Nope, that isn't. If you've been doing a great ab workout, then go out and eat a Big Mac right afterwards, don't go expecting your stomach to look as taut. You need lean meat, vegetables, fruit, good carbs, and a ton of fiber to to result in a fit stomach and body in general. Because when you exercise a specific part of your body (like the treadmill), you would think you're just exercising your legs, but no. It's good cardio, so basically your entire body is given a nice workout. I suggest you do this:
1) Cardio–swimming is extremely good for this, keep it up (endurancy depending on your level, but at least for 30 mins)
2) Lunges
3) Crunches
4) Sit ups

Go on YouTube and click around for good ab workouts too. Keep active and you'll be happy with the results.

Best of luck,

I see teenagers and girls in their 20's and even 30's who main a flat stomach. I am a 17 year old guy and was just wondering about this. Do they drink a sheit load of water? Do they barely eat anything? Some of the girls I've met who have flat tight stomachs and who are not skinny but average everywhere else, say they never work out. Is there metabolism so fast that whatever they eat gets used really quick? I am just wondering how do they do it.

Eat healthier and cut down on junk food, such as replacing potato chips and chocolate with fruit. You'll see a world of difference.
Watch how many soft drinks you consume. Consider flavored water as an alternative if you must.
Do aerobic exercise daily at a 30 minute minimum and include 1-2 day(s) rest break each week. Anything that brings your heart rate up. Take up dancing, running,, tae-bo. (Power walking will only build your legs.)
Eat lots of lean protein (like beans and nuts – have some meat, it is rather good for you as long as you do not eat the fat!), fruits and dark vegetables, and whole wheat breads and grains. They keep you fuller longer than white breads like in cakes, cookies, and sweets. Also, stay away from dairy products.
To better work the entire abdominal region, vary your exercises: crunches work the upper abdomen; leg raises work the lower abdomen; side bends work the obliques (also known as love handles).
It is better to aim at burning fat altogether since it is impossible to spot train. And sure, you can do 100 daily crunches. But if you've got a layer of fat covering up your ab work, then what's the point? You need to burn the stomach fat to see the changes.
Consider some form of an-aerobic exercise, as well. Some simple resistance training, or light weight lifting, will not only help you burn fat more efficiently, but tone up the rest of your body as well.
Raising your metabolic rate is crucial. The higher your metabolic rate, the more energy (and thus fat) you'll burn even when you aren't doing anything. Try compound exercises like deadlifts with heavier weights. See "How to Do a Deadlift" for more information.
To increase your metabolic rate, increase the frequency of your meals to 6-8 times a day. Every 2 to 3 hours injest a small meal. This increased frequency, will put your metabolisim into overdrive. WARNING do not over-eat… small meals only. For greatest effect only eat carbohydrates before 2pm, from then on, only proteins.
Do crunches every day. You must be consistant or else it won't work. The only person holding you back from your dream stomach is you!
Do a lot of cardio , good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont want to lose weight. Basically right now Im skinny with a pretty big butt and a little bit of a stomach. I want to get my stomach flat and enhance my big butt.
What are some exercises to help me do this??? And how many reps should i do?

Again I dont want to do any exercises that would cause me to lose weight.

If you don't want to lose weight but want to get a bigger butt go to gym. There you can do weight training with big weights and short sets. Sets of 8-10 and three times in a workout. This wont burn that much calories, and remember to eat enough, food with a lots of proteins like eggs. You might try some recovery drinks, which also have a good amount of proteins. But in the end, if you are exercising then you are consuming more energy and you need to eat more to keep your weight.

For the flat stomach just start to do basic sit-ups, take a target of 100 sit-ups a-day for starters. Do 3 x 30 sets or do as long sets as you can, just get that 100 sit-ups in workout session full. Getting a flat stomach you just need to do a lots of ab exercises.

I do have one of those giant balls but dont know what kinds of things to do. I am 5'6 and weigh 135. I am a skinny girl with a gut. I want a flat stomach any advice?

It's normal to have some what of a "pooch" but "Crunches" work REAL well. Not sure how many sets you can do, but maybe go for it about 3 times a week and do a bunch till your tummy feels sore, when you feel the muscles "pull."

You should notice your tummy flatten quick if you keep up with the crunches over time.
